PART 1. FEATHERS USED AS A BIOMONITORING TOOL

Bird feathers constitute a good biomonitoring tool. Each feather contains a record of past blood contamination,
that supply the feather for a couple weeks during feather growth. Gaining analytical information from keratinized
tissues like feather is recently a well perspective practice used for environment contamination assessment. One of
the biggest challenge however, is differentiation between internal and external contamination.
