XENOESTROGENS AS A FACTOR INCREASING THE RISK OF CANCER INCIDENCE
Currently, a great attention is paid to foreign substances to the body disrupting hormonal balance so called xenoes-
trogens, which are considered to be factors constituting a threat to living organisms. The common occurrence of
these compounds in the environment contributes to a continuous exposure of the body to their negative effect. To
this comprehensive groups you can heal without doubt mycotoxin - zearalenone (ZEA; F-2 toxin) and its metabo-
lites. Zearalenone molecule has the lactone linkage within the macrocyclic ring as causing its similarity to natural
estrogens (female sex hormones), so you can connect to the estrogen receptors, and consequently disrupt natural
hormonal balance of women and men. Hormonal imbalance in women can lead to a strong proliferation of cells in
the reproductive organs, thereby leading to their carcinogenesis. A particularly interesting aspect is the correlation
between the presence of zearalenone and its metabolites and the incidence of endometrial cancer.
