USED AS DOPING AGENTS IN EQUESTRIAN SPORTS
Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are a large group of compounds which exhibit anti-inflammatory,
analgesics and antipyretics properties widely used in equine medicine. Unfortunately, they are often misused in
competing horses in order to mask signs of pain or inflammation. In order to determine whether doping agents
were administered to horses, samples of equine biological material are tested by accredited anti-doping labora-
tories.
