PART I. METHODOLOGICAL SOLUTIONS IN THE FIELD OF MASS SPECTROMETRY
ALLOWS TO DIRECT ANALYSIS OF SAMPLES

Mass spectrometry technique is one of the most important analytical tool used for to identification, definition of
chemical structure of compounds and quantitative determination of the concentrations of analytes. In order to
identify analytes in real samples, the initial separation is required. Mass spectrometers is usually used as a detector,
eg. in the case of using hyphenated techniques,, during the separation of the mixture to individual components,
the appropriate chromatographic devices are used (GC, LC).
An alternative approach can be application of the methodical solution allowing for direct analysis of samples by
the use of a new design solutions in the field of mass spectrometry.
In the article a brief characteristics of commonly used methods, allowing for direct analysis
of the samples by the use of mass spectrometry techniques, was described.
Key words: direct analysis of samples, mass spectrometry, new instrumental solutions
