ECOTOXICOLOGICAL RISKS AND OCCURRENCE IN ENVIRONMENTAL SAMPLES
COLLECTED IN POLAND

Presented paper is closing the publication series on analytics and risk assessment of pharmaceuticals in the envi-
ronment which was presented in the following issues of “Analityka”.
The problem of the presence of pharmaceutical residues in ecosystems is associated mainly with their resistance
to degradation processes and their ecotoxicological potential, which is described in the presented article. The
environment in Poland is also exposed to the presence of pharmaceutical residues. There are only a few studies
on this topic, however they reported the occurrence of those compounds in in wastewaters, drinking waters, sea
and lake waters, as well as in soils, sediments and tissues of freshwater fishes.
