– A WAY TO IMPROVE THE EFFECTIVENESS
OF THE CHROMATOGRAPHIC SEPARATION

In every element of the environment is many compounds having or suspected of having harmful effects on a living
organisms. In analytical practice, a number of analytical methods is utilized for the final determination of analytes
in different kind of matrices. However, the most commonly used are chromatographic techniques, particularly
gas and liquid chromatography. Taking into account the fact that a large group of compounds has no structural
properties that allow their determination by using the above mentioned techniques coupled with the appropri-
ate type of detection, therefore, derivatization process is necessary to improve the capability of the application
of both techniques.
