PART I – SOURCES AND ANALYTICAL CHALLENGES
The presence of pharmaceutical residues in the environment has become a subject of
growing concern in the past decade. This paper provides an introduction to the publica-
tion series that are going to be presented in the following issues of „Analityka” on analyt-
ics and risk assessment of pharmaceuticals in the environment. The publication series
gathering information on the sources of pharmaceuticals in the environment, sampling
and sample preparation techniques, chromatographic methods of determination as well
as studies on their environmental occurrence, fate and ecotoxicological risks.
